 What is Oxfordshire MANTRA?

  • MANTRA (previously know as MANTRAH - Multi Agency Network for Tackling Racially Aggravated Harassment)  is working to stop hate crime in Oxfordshire.  We are a group of organisations working together to get the right help to victims and to take action against the perpetrators.
  • We have a system for reporting racial hate crime: www.reportracismoxon.com but are in the process of procuring a web based system called Arch Mantra for reporting all five hate crime strands, which include Race, Disability, Sexual Orientation, Religion and/or Belief and Transgender.
  •  The Arch MANTRA reporting and recording will include the automatic referrals of incidents to members support agencies, these include Registered Social Landlords, Victim Support, Oxford City Homes, Thames Valley Police, Connexions, etc.
  • Using the Arch MANTRA case management system these agencies can share and update information confidentially about the case.  This ensures greater co-ordination which means the victim receives the most suitable support and the most effective action is taken against perpetrators.

    Who can report?
Incidents can be reported by the victim, by someone on behalf of the victim, a witness to the incident or an agency worker.

What should you do if someone reports a hate incident to you?
If the person is in immediate physical danger then you should strongly encourage them to ring the police or offer to ring on their behalf.  If they refuse you permission to ring the police, then immediately inform your supervisor.

Be aware that the victim may have suffered a number of attacks before deciding to report them and/or may only be prepared to report the incident and not received any further support at the time.
Any incidents reported to Arch MANTRA will:

-    Be taken seriously

-    Allow victims to choose who they want to have their information.  They simply say ‘yes’ to those they want help from.

-    Be dealt with MANTRA partners in the same way

-    Allow agencies to work together to get the best support for the victim, and to take action against the attackers

-    Ensure data on hate incidents in Oxfordshire is collated and used for intelligence to allow resources to be targeted in the areas they are needed.
