Community wardens are employed by West Oxfordshire District Council to help manage parking both on the street and in council-run car parks.

Wearing green uniforms and high visibility jackets, the wardens carry out regular patrols across the district. They spend time in each neighbourhood and work closely with the police teams to help keep communities safe and clean.

Their main responsibilities are:

  • To help improve parking problems caused by illegal and inconsiderate parking;
  • Provide advice to motorists and residents;
  • Penalise those that flout the law by issuing fixed penalty notices.

As well as parking responsibilities, they help deal with fly tipping, littering, dog fouling, graffiti and vandalism.
