365alive is an Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service initiative which aims to promote a safer community for everyone through safety education and prevention work.

Visit www.365alive.co.uk to take full advantage of fire safety advice offered by Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue Service, which provides you with a questionnaire and guidance on how to carry out your very own home fire risk check.

The questionnaire will allow you to identify fire hazards in your home and when complete provides you with an overall safety rating.  To find out if you can improve your fire safety, review the questionnaire and for any questions that you have received a score against refer to the fire safety advice at www.365alive.co.uk to see if you can make your home safer.

365 Alive’s top five tips to keep you and your family safe from fires are:

  • Ensure you have smoke alarms installed on each level of your home and test them weekly
  • Have an escape plan and ensure everyone knows what to do
  • Complete a bedtime check and make sure all doors are closed at night to stop a fire from spreading
  • Never leave cooking on the hob, under the grill or in the oven unattended especially when cooking with hot oil
  • If using candles and tea lights make sure they are secured in a proper holder

For safety advice please visit www.365alive.co.uk or contact us on our free phone community safety helpline 08000 325999 if you have any specific fire safety concerns.

The 10 year vision was launched in October 2006. The aim is to:

  • save an extra 365 lives in Oxfordshire, both in the home and on our roads
  • save the taxpayer a £100million
  • make 840,000 people safer by providing education on fire and road safety
